I am in the slow process of bringing this old website to a current form. I want it to be more of a factual document rather than an advertizement for gigs and records. There will be links to buy all my catalog items, etc., however. If anyone sees anything here that they would like to add to or comment on please feel free to contact me at jamie@jamiehoover.net. Also-if anyone has any interesting photos they would like to see up feel free to send them to me.

Thanks for looking!-Jamie

Back in 1999 Bryan & I (The Van DeLecki's) did these two "live" videos at a place called liketelevision.com. Now archived-here they are! Enjoy!

Here's a link to a live radio show I did last week with my long-time friend Alan Haber-check it out!

Alan Haber's Purepop

Here is a nice "history of" style slide show on The Spongetones!

Wow-long time coming!

Years back I wrote a song called "Skinny"-and recorded it with my brothers-The Spongetones. It was first released on a pop compilation "Yellow Pills". Later this was included on our 5th record "Textural Drone Thing" on Black Vinyl Records (1995). I just recently found out it has been used on ABC "World News Now" since April of last year (2006) every time the show airs-Monday through Friday! Better late-than never, I always say.... We always liked the tune then-but it's so great when someone else notices now! Listen for it in a section called "The Skinny" next time your staying up late-the show airs on ABC from 2:00AM until 3:30AM. Drink plenty of coffee!!

Hey!!

Well, the big trip to LA in November to work with a personal hero of mine-Bob Lind was a total success! We taped 13 tunes-mostly cool new ones-with a few older tunes (Elusive Butterfly-of course). Bob had a really top-shelf band of players for this up-coming dvd documentary project-which I was honored to be a part of. There also was a small studio audience in attendance. After our "band" portion of the performance-we were all treated to an hour long part of this same event where Bob played a number of songs by himself. He is a wonderful person to watch perform! Riveting! To read more-check Bob's blog on his site here:

http://www.boblind.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=330&sid=dc60b7673f92c8753a840b5bb7f5e77c

The players were myself, Matt Cook on keyboards, Kevin Jarvis, Drums, and Dave Carpenter, Bass. The makers of the documentary are Paul Surratt and Ian Marshall-and all the other folks at Restoration Video in LA.

I'll keep you posted as to a release date and/or an airing of this will be available to enjoy. Also-look for his up-coming re-release of "SINCE THERE WERE CIRLCES"-back from 1971. A fantastic record-possibly his best from the past-and that's saying a lot.

Bob is back!

These two photos were taken by Mrs Cook-Matt's mother...

Hey folks,

Just a note to let you know I've been invited to play guitar for a big hero of mine-Bob Lind (Elusive Butterfly to name one..)-for an upcoming DVD documentary project being filmed in LA. The people making the documentary have done other things like this-such as one that ended up on public television for The Kingston Trio! Hopefully you'll all see it sometime soon.

If you've followed me at all you'll know I've been a big fan of Bob's for years-having recently recorded my "Lind Me Four" ep-a four song solo project of his tunes. I am delighted to see all this awareness of Bob's very under-rated work. A British label also recently signed him to re-release his "Circles" record-from years ago. I guess it all comes back around. Cheers to Bob!

I have just released a compilation CDR of songs written by myself and/or co-written by myself with Steve Stoeckel or Bill Lloyd. My idea was to put 2 songs from all albums I have personally been a part of-ala Spongetones, the Paparazzi disc Bill & I did, my fist solo album "Coupons", and both The Van DeLecki discs. Also-this seemed a great opportunity to include the 4 tunes I covered by Bob Lind (Lind Me Four EP-see below)-which, of course Bob wrote-so my sub-title is really incorrect when I say "written". Please forgive me! :-) I just wanted for this music to continue to be available-as it is out of print now-and there won't be any more. There is one short bonus cut-a radio tag I did for Alan Haber's Purepop show-ala Ed Sullivan!

There are no previously unreleased tracks here-so if you already have these albums the only thing you'll find new here is the packaging-thanks-Michael Slawter!! (and Alan's Theme, of course). There are several unreleased tracks of mine with this package-as downloads only-if you buy this through Notlame-plus other bonus downloads from those same records I borrowed these all from. I think it is a nice collection if you particularly like to listen to me sing-or don't already have these songs. 80 minutes of material too!! :-)

Two things new--I will be guest-hosting Alan Haber's Purepop radio show, spinning my faves on these 4 dates:

May 18, May 25, June 1, June 8. They are all the same show-but check it out as much as you want to!

Busy boy here-as of late-which is a good thing!

I have just finished a new 4 song "EP" CDR project that's been burning me to get done for a while. I call it "Lind Me Four" and it's all Bob Lind songs I'm just in-love with-and felt the need to cover. All four of these were on his first LP back in 1966. You'll notice the styling of the package-thank you Michael Slawter for the design! I had to stop myself from just re cutting the whole LP! I love these tunes.

This is an "EP" style release-so really just a 4 song experiment for me. It is a CDR release-with a nice color printed cdr and booklet. Four songs only! Very limited release!

Alan Haber has written a lovely piece on this record for his extremely hip internet pop publication "Buhdge-Pop Culture At A Budget Price". Check him out every week! http://www.buhdge.com/hot_buhdge/2006/hoover.htm A wonderful resource for power pop information and music! Also-check him out on the radio at "Alan Haber's Pure Pop radio" at http://www.purepopradio.com/-"live-365!" Get yourself a pop education!

Check out Bob Lind's post on his web site! I'm very proud of this!!

I'd also like to mention that Bob Lind himself has a new cd-a "live" one-which you should all immediately go buy at his website! His voice sounds wonderful and he's a smart and compelling entertainer!! He hasn't lost a lick since 66". Infact-he may be better now than ever-great voice and player! Check him out at http://www.boblind.com

I'd also like to take the time to tell you about several other cool projects I've been busy with-go check out them all!

"Eden's Highway"-by Barnhill Station-cool alt country!! Lovely singer-mountain-man guitar player-cool band members and me here and there. Buy it!

"Big Bus Dream"-by 4th Ward-acoustic-based alt pop duo Michael Shannon and Chick Tsikouras-plus me. A long time coming-and worth the wait!! Buy it!

"An Assassination Of Someone You Knew"-by Michael Slawter-Power-pop at it's best! If you like Shoes, Big Star any of the big pop staples bands-you must get this up-coming release on Just Plain Lucky Records. Nuff said...! A labor of love for me.

"Rock It 2 Japan"-by South Of Sane-soulful gal singer-backed up with three rocking players-80's based, but with a 2006 slant-and a hint of Zep. Great band to see and hear! Release date of 5/15/06. Support their ROCK!

A new release by Tom Constanten (Grateful Dead keyboard player-to name one thing) and Ken Foust-master of many musical instruments!! It will be titled Tom Constanten & Ken Foust "Moved To Stanleyville". This is a really interesting project- jam flavors and classical overtones-with funny, clever songwriting. Very high musicianship! I'm glad I got to be involved with this one.

Also look for new releases by Wednesday 13 and Rayen Belchere'--both coming soon!!

Also, I've recently been included on a Nick Lowe tribute entitled "Lowe Profile", available at notlame.com:

http://www.notlame.com/V/A/Page_1/CDLOWE6.html.

This release was put together by my buddie Walter Clevenger on his own Brewery Records label, and also available at: http://www.breweryrecords.com Check out all Walter's records too!

I recorded the song "American Squirm" with Chris Garges on Drums and Don Dixon on bass.

I was lucky enough to have recently worked with producer/engineer of note-John Agnello-shown here, hard at work at my Mac-where he tracked and recorded the new (first) record by The Sammies! Title still unknow at this point-the record will be released on Charlotte's own Morisen Records when it's completed by John. This is going to be a great record!!

John also put the last finishing touches on the up-comming Elevator Action cd-also for Morisen Records. Great alt pop!!

Ho Ho Ho!

Shown here is Kathy Bartlett-one half of the duo "Kathy & David"-hearing a playback from their up-comming Christmas CD-to be released this year!

Check out their previous cd-also recorded here. I'm assuming the new one will be available through cdbaby.com also.

Crisis! This is the new line up-including Henry Pharr on bass. They've just finished their 4th record-to be released very soon! Still untitled at this point. This is going to be their strongest effort yet-with rocking Stone-ish, Beatle-ish, alternative pop-ish, God-knows what else-ish sounding cool music! Even an acoustic song on this one!

Finally--they finally brought me a copy of the new cd! The Everyday Things! Critics and pop fans everywhere are talking about this one!

Last-but not least-popster Jeremy of Jam Recordings was nice enought to ask me to help him with one of his tunes on his newest release entitled "Only Love Remains". The tune is titled "Wake Up" and it all came out really great! Check out this and all his releases on Jam Recordinga at:http://www.jamrecordings.com/
