Jack Cornell and I did the first “Let’s Get Mikey” cd together, which is where I first met Bryan Shumate. By the time we did this solo cd of his I was in love with his voice and spirit enough to ask him to do a duo record together, which became the first VanDeLecki cd. We both share a love for all things Andy Griffith-and that’s where we took our name. (notice the autograph)….:-) We are playing a show together soon-for the first time since………? (yay!)
5/29/18–Off Beatles?
…So my intention with this track was to do it as a fun experiment: to change all the major chords to minor chords and all the minor chords to major–just to see how funny it would be. Personally it kills me because it’s so “wrong”…..which, of course was the point. The first time I posted it people said “really nice, Jamie”……and I was…..uh….what? So either they were being polite or totally missing it. Maybe they thought I didn’t know? Whatever…..SO I was toying with the idea of a collection of Beatle songs by other bands, doing the same time–or really messing with the timing-or just something weird. Maybe we could call it “Off-Beatles”? “Bad Beatles”? Any takers?
5/24/18–You Took Away The Birds!
I wrote this a few years back and included it on my now-out-of-print “Jamie Two Ever” cd. I remember when I wrote this my wife had gone to the beach for a weekend and so I was batching it at home. I really missed her and I noticed when I went outside in my back yard-the birds had all seemed to just go away. Not a sound. When she came home–so did the birds. Yay!
5/23/18–Music lessons via the internet–it works!
So every Wednesday morning bright and early I have a bass lesson with my good bud Bob Prophit via the internet with a groovy-free program called VST Performer Connect. The only thing he needs on his end is a free download of VST Performer from steinberg.net, a computer with hard wired high speed internet, a computer, an simple audio interface, a mic, his bass, and headphones. Here’s an example of how it works……you nerds will dig this if you don’t already know about it. I am starting up my new quarter of Recording And Production at BCC….by the way-today! This is all so do-able!
5/22/18–Bob Lind-May!
Here’s a track from the first of two records I did for-and with Bob Lind, well-known for his lovely song “Elusive Butterfly”. EB is NOT the only thing he ever wrote though! I fell in love with this tune when I heard it from Bob’s “Live At The Luna Star” cd. In the 60’s this would have been another hit, me thinks. It’s a hit for me anyway/anytime!
